Since then, as the ActionCOACH Franchise has grown to over 1,000 offices, across more than 75 countries, ActionCOACH – Brisbane, has set an outstanding example for the global coaching community and maintained a pivotal role in training and innovation of the business coaching industry worldwide.

Steve has been a pioneer of the business coaching industry, since 1997. His in-person trainings and workshops in over 30 countries, as well as 1-on-1 coaching with clients around the World, has impacted hundreds-of-thousands of business owners around the World. The first inductee into the Global Coaching Hall of Fame and dozens of other Global local awards and accolades, are testament to his innovation, contribution and commitment to business growth and entrepreneurialism.

Lauren grew up around business conversations and coaching sessions, naturally developing an understanding of how people learn and what motivates them. With a background as an Exercise Physiologist, she has a strong ability to guide people through change. Her coaching blends structure, planning, and personal development, helping owners feel more confident in both mindset and daily operations.
Shannon Brady
Business Coach
Shannon brings a mix of athletic discipline and business experience. Before becoming a coach, he played professional football and later managed one of Southeast Queensland’s largest allied health clinics. He helps owners build momentum through clear processes, communication, and reliable systems. His style is practical, upbeat, and focused on long-term growth.

Steve Leach – Founder & Head Coach
Steve’s mantra ‘Only ever take advice and feedback, from people you want to emulate’, is especially relevant in an unregulated industry, being saturated by a vast range of coaches, advisors and mentors, with little or no experience, or credibility. Steve with his wife of over 31 years, Melissa, have Founded and Run the Abundance Group of Companies, with business and investment interests both in Australia and overseas.
A Pioneer in Business Coaching, Mentoring & Advice
Leach’s business coaching journey, began as a business consultant in 1995, leading to a contract as Senior Export Advisor for the State Government. In this role Steve was responsible for guiding educating and supporting Queensland businesses, wanting to break into international markets. In 1997, Leach was inspired to join Brad Sugars, in his new company ActionCOACH (then Action International), who was looking for someone with Leach’s experience, to educate and guide small business owners, as they strove to undertake strategic planning, improve business performance, pursue new business opportunities, become better business leaders.
With many authors & organisations providing group trainings, workshops, seminars & material, it was the idea of someone that would educate and support business owners, over a long term, one-on-one relationship, that was unique at the time. This new role was worthy of a new title, to separate the methodology from ‘consultants’ and ‘advisors’. The role of ‘Business Coach’ was born!
The World’s First ActionCOACH Franchisee
In December 1997, after several months defining, developing and refining the methodology of ‘business coaching’, Action, shifted to a Franchise model, with Steve being granted the very first ActionCOACH franchisee worldwide.
ActionCOACH Global Director & Trainer
With ActionCOACH Founder, Brad Sugars, focussing on Global Expansion, Steve was tasked with training and supporting new coach franchisees, in addition to his work with his coaching clients. In 2002 Leach accepted a role as ActionCOACH’s Global Director of Coaching. Over the next two years as action grew from 124 franchisees, to 760, Steve worked tirelessly to train and support new franchisees, establishing training schools in the UK, US, Canada and of course Australia. Steve retired from that position in 2004, to re-focus on his passion for coaching businesses; helping them achieve success from both a business and personal viewpoint.
Speaker, Trainer & Presenter
Over 10,500 hours on stage across 23 countries, is testament to Steve Leach’s effectiveness as a Trainer and Speaker.
Steve is the “real deal” – Success didn’t come with one lucky break in business and he didn’t have an entrepreneurial upbringing or cash inheritance. His evolution from a middle-class kid who struggled in school, into a Globally recognised pioneer of the Business Coaching Profession and Multi-Millionaire Entrepreneur and investor, provides a galvanising story and credibility for all audiences.
Each presentation is curated, developed and customised to suit each different situation and audience. His presentations elevate his audience and provide the important ‘how to’ strategies, to achieve excellence in subjects ranging from Leadership, to operations, to Sales, to Teamwork.

He became the first member of the ActionCOACH Global Hall of Fame and has received honours from the Presidents’ Club, Chairmans’ Club, and Founders’ Club. These awards represent years of dedication, not only to clients, but also to improving standards across the coaching profession. For many owners, his work speaks louder than any title.
Building Wealth & Legacy
With his wife Melissa, Steve has built a diverse investment portfolio across different industries and countries. Their philosophy – earn well, manage money wisely, and grow steadily – became part of his coaching style. After a short retirement in 2023, Steve returned when his daughter Lauren joined the organisation. Soon after, her partner Shannon came on board too, blending long-term experience with fresh energy and new perspectives.
